Q. Other online conveyancing portals have been marketed in the past, so how is Free2Convey different?
A. Key to the development of Free2Convey was ensuring there were no barriers to its use. It’s the only free online portal that offers genuine ‘end to end’ chain view, with no licence or transactional fees. You simply log on and have immediate access to the system without the need for technical support or paperwork. Free2Convey is the only online chain view to include updates for conveyancers involved in the chain.
Q. My law firm already has a case management system that incorporates anti-fraud and other essentials - diary reminders and so on - that ensures the conveyancing process runs pretty smoothly. Won’t I waste time having to rekey the same data that’s already on our system into Free2Convey?
A. Absolutely not. In developing Free2Convey we realised that firms wouldn’t want to rekey data – something that would take up unnecessary time – and you simply ‘drag and drop’ your data with no rekeying required.
Free2Convey is accessible to all law firms regardless of whether or not they have a case management system (CMS).
If you have a CMS in place then you can: –
- Upload data from your current CMS to create conveyancing chains in Free2Convey – view our easy step-by-step guide by clicking here.
- Implement our Osprey.TM case management software in your firm to benefit from seamless integration by visiting www.ospreylegalcloud.co.uk
- Contact your current CMS supplier about integrating the system with Free2Convey via the integration link (API) available to all suppliers.
If you don’t have a CMS in place then you can use Free2Convey as a standalone application – simply click here to register.
Q. What about integration with systems we need to use like Land Registry - is it all joined up?
A. Free2Convey has the support of Land Registry and we’ve added its title number search facility, enabling you to have address validation in just a few clicks.
For security and peace of mind we’ve added Lawyer Checker’s Account & Entity Screen search that enables you to verify quickly all details for each party in the chain.
Q. What about sensitive information, for instance, a property that’s being sold following a divorce?
A. Privacy is a key priority for Free2Convey.
The only data held, and available to view, is of a non-sensitive nature.
For parties involved in a conveyancing chain, the only information they see is the law firm’s contact details and the status of the property upon which it is acting, which is displayed using a ‘traffic light’ view to indicate what stage a transaction has reached.
Rest assured that other parties cannot access information other than the chain information which relates to them.
Q. How does Free2Convey display updates and what stages are updated on the portal?
A. Free2Convey uses a simple traffic light system to represent the key stages of a conveyancing transaction, including exchange of contracts and completion, with the addition of a notes field to allow for infinite “sub stages” and comprehensive notes explaining the position within that stage.
Q. Free2Convey is available entirely free of charge to all parties - isn’t there a catch?
A. No, there isn’t. Pracctice Ltd owns and manages the Osprey.TM CMS as its core business in a multi tenanted, mirrored datacentre environment, which means we already had the required resources and market know-how to develop and provide Free2Convey without a need to charge for it.
